Cream, entre el 66 y el 68, produjo un salto conceptual indispensable para el rocanrol, instalando la simbiosis blues - rock blanco, superando las divergencias pop de este último, y creando la figura del power trío.

Eric Clapton (30 de marzo de 1945, Ripley, Surrey): tocó en los Yardbirds y los Bluesbreakers de John Mayall.
Jack Bruce (14 de mayo de 1943, Glasgow, Escocia): Manfred Mann y Graham Bond.
Ginger Baker (19 de mayo de 1939, Lewishan, Londres): idem.

4. Goodbye: Clapton entendió que el derroterro de Cream estaba agotado y forzó la disolución. EL 26 de noviembre de 1968 en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres los Cream dieron su concierto de despedida. Filmado y grabado, se armaron una película y el último álbum de la banda.
En 1993 entraron al Salón de la Fama del Rock.
En mayo de 2005 brindaron una serie de conciertos en el Royal Albert Hall de Londres. De estos conciertos se grabó un álbum doble.
A fines de Octubre de 2005 repitieron con tres recitales en el Madison Square Garden en Nueva York.
